Raedon Kong – Raedon Kong EP

by Dæv Tremblay

A name I have never heard before; music that I will keep listening to.

Raedon Kong is a really interesting band. Mastodon-ish sludge mixed with King Crimson-ish structures and psychedelism, and a touch of doom.

Emphasizing on atmospheres created through their instruments. The singer isn’t often in the spotlight, despite him doing a great job.

The vocals being more in the background let us appreciate the music and the ambiances created much more.

This CD is really good, and you can get it and their previous one for FREE!!!

Toothgrinder: The Craziest Live Band Ever

by David Lopez Jr.

Everything about this band is extreme. Their stage presence. Their attitude. The progressiveness of their songs. Hell even their amp rigs are intense.

These guys were one of the opening bands for Corelia and Misery Signals last night at the Championship Bar in Trenton, NJ.

The moment they started they blow my mind with their intensity. Just imagine a more extreme in your face Between the Buried and Me sound with killer Classic rock solos and great usage of effects from crazy pitch shifted solos to some tasty bass fuzz to some of the most insane drumming I have seen. … Read more

Mad Essence – Transmission

by Dæv Tremblay

So yeah, merging electronic music with djent-y or metalcore-y stuff isn’t that new, but bands that do this well are just too few. I couldn’t even name you one off the top of my head (while I think of it : Instant Suppression)

From Ukraine comes this unique and outstanding group of fellows. Elements of dance, trance, and electro are emphasized on the more metal elements, but metalheads are not left to starve: 8 string guitar riffing and shredding (courtesy of Mark Hawkins from Devolved), metal drumming, and harsh singing are all in the box.

This album was made for … Read more

Novållo – Novållo EP

by Dæv Tremblay

Novållo will be the newest addition in your music library.

Their eponymous EP of about 20 minutes will make its way into your heart and mind as you listen to it for the first, second, third (and so on) time.

Taking elements of electronica, jazz, and different metal styles and spreading them like I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter! on a djent-ish foundation, Novållo could play before an Ever Forthright show and not feel out of place or be ashamed at all.

Their lead singer is definitely a strong piece in the group, because its superb and polyvalent voice is … Read more

Leben Ohne Licht Kollektiv/ Immemorial – Quantum of Abstract Physics

by Lefteris Kefalas

A preview of the album can be streamed from Souncloud:

This split release bearing the aberrant title ‘Quantum of Abstract Quantum of Abstract Physics coverPhysics’ is slowly processing it’s final phase and the result is surely of remarkable proportions, something that was actually fairly expected. Featuring two of the most interesting and intriguing underground dark ambient bands I’ve heard, as of recently, joined forces into an album that could be considered as not of this earth, just like the imagination of the concept clearly manifests. This lengthy prologue is directed to LEBEN OHNE LICHT KOLLEKTIV and  IMMEMORIAL, and their masterminds  I.Luciferia, Damien … Read more
