They the artists! Rejectionary Art – Exocoetidae : Flying Fish

Like their band’s name so brilliantly puts it, Rejectionary Art puts aside any convention that might have been put up in the history of music (or so).

After the intro song, which is propaganda over spazzy rhythms and harmonies (featuring Morgan Ågren, no less!), the styles come and go, follow each other in lines coming from every corner of the Americas. Bluegrass, jazz, funk, etc. etc. etc.

Each song is different from the next one, so you really don’t know what to expect, and at times you’re left paralyzed, not knowing what to do. That’s just how impressive these gents … Read more

Let’s sink the austerity boat! Peculate – Fiscal Cliffs

Today’s the day I can repent from not talking to you more about the exceptional peculiarity that is the awesome one-man band Peculate.

What struck me at first with this band is Ben’s voice. Wow, dude! How versatile can a singer be, this guy nails it! From a plethora of screamings and growlings to a broad singing range, Ben will use what fits the music or atmosphere best most of the time! Apparently, he needs some money for that, so if you can afford it head out to his indiegogo campaign just below.

And… I’m not sure I should put a link to his personal facebook page, so I’ll put a link to his … Read more

The Gabriel Construct or the quintessence of progressive rock

Gabriel Lucas Riccio. That name probably doesn’t ring a bell… yet! Because after listening to the masterpiece that is Interior City, his name will sit besides those of legends like Neal Morse (Spock’s Beard, Transatlantic) or Casey Crescenzo (The Dear Hunter).

With ex members of Periphery (Travis Orbin, Tom Murphy), David Stivelman, Soren Larson, and Sophia Uddin, the band feeds on dissonant chords layered with vocal harmonies with many complex rhythms as a backbone. Adding to the traditional guitar-bass-drum band, pianos and keyboards fill the few vacant spots musically speaking, and finally the saxophone is like an olive … Read more
