Deconstructing Sequence – Access Code

As a young and talented extreme progressive metal act, Deconstructing Sequence, from the UK, begins to make waves in the community. Their latest two-song EP, Access Code, seems to follow the trend established by their debut EP last year: it’s harsh, it’s extreme, it’s good, but it’s short!

The sci-fi-inspired three-piece seems to succeed to their 2013 EP “Year One”, both concept-wise, and in music. Musically, it’s fast-paced and heavy, with the occasional lighter clean guitar with lots of effects on. Over the marathoning drums, the guitars and keyboards exchange places frequently. Peculate – The Chain Industry (Collateral Damage, Pt. II)

The music of Peculate has been described as many things. I, however, would like to describe Peculate as restless, colourful, and eclectic.

Restless because a new LP is released every few months, with a few songs or sometimes an EP in-between. The rate of production resembles that of Omar Rodriguez-López, or, in other words, it’s a crazy production rate! Even excerpts from “The Quantum Hack Code” are hidden in the music, hinting at the fact that this is a sequel to the story, in all it’s incandescent glory!

If you placed expectations for this album, they’re very probably ruined, but this album will definitely be a milestone in music history … Read more

…and the dark will shine upon you. Exist – Sunlight

Exist has been running for a few years now, and they’ve got a new, their first, full-length album, that’s called Sunlight. Don’t be misled by the name, it’s not rainbows and butterflies.
Listen to the second track off the album, “Self-Inflicted Disguise”, below.

Their previous albums, In Mirrors EP, is almost just technically an EP, clocking at around 28 minutes long. Some bands put out full-lengths that are shorter than this. And the album featured an awesome song suite, named by the album’s title. In Mirrors EP amazed me. What I recall most vividly is the bass tone, … Read more
