Review: Systems – Ghost Medicine

While searching for Systems‘ bandcamp page, earlier, I arrived on Systems‘ one by mistake. And I was really not disappointed!

Even though far from similar to non-diatonic experimental prog metallers Systems, Systems definitely is an interesting band also. More in the vein of post-hardcore and post-metal, with a tinge of experimental, black metal, and progressive elements that are [always] welcome. The album, in fact, consists of one huge 41-minute song, divided into eight parts about (from what I can tell) myths, particularly in medicine, but not limited to it.

Review: Seer – Vol. 1

From Beautiful British-Columbia comes Seer, a vintage-sounding stoner/sludge metal band which makes them, from this point of view, similar to Dawnbringer. Obviously, the two bands have wildly different influences and goals for their music, but still.

The production and sound is clear, … Read more

Review: The secret album I kept hidden from you

[Hit play now]

Yup. It’s a terrible secret finally being told. Back in October, Corey Jason, the man behind the band, wrote to me asking for a review. After the first song, I was thralled , this was amazing, so I quickly replied to him that I’ll do a review. But meanwhile, the album kept playing, and it kept getting weirder and weirder. And I love weird music. I’m in awe when I listen to Peculate, I’m amazed at the jazz-rap of New Apple Taste, and I’m currently working on a microtonal black metal text-to-music … Read more

News: Something goes right for Mad Essence

Russian metalrtronic band Mad Essence will soon release their next full-length album Rehumanization which is said to be the greatest of them all.

If we are to judge the future album by the present single, this would not be far from the truth. Something Goes Right definitely gets something right. It’s not surprising for an experienced listener, but it kind of reminds me of nu-metal, the not-so-bad ones. And this is cool.

I’ll wait for the album release for the final judgement.… Read more
