Qebrus – also sometimes written as Qebrµs, capitalized or not – is one of these musical oddities that keep on giving. Earlier this year, we’ve covered the project’s latest release, ᐔᐌᐂᐍᐚ, and, after many single releases, we find ourselves once again in front of a full-length release: ◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙◙. The album, from here on referred to as A A(source) for obvious reasons, is in line with most of the cryptic glitch artist’s output, but feels more minimalistic, contemplative, even. It might be difficult to grasp the complexity and effort that goes into making these tracks, just because … Read more

Sevish – Harmony Hacker

You know that I’m a sucker for microtonal music. I still am quite critical of it, but I always applaud the effort put into it. So, it’s no surprise that I’m enjoying the new Sevish very much! The artist has proven themself time and time again with various successful releases, including my personal favourite, Rhythm & Xen. With Harmony Hacker, Sevish takes back where their 2015 full-length left, and offers us some high-quality electronic dance music, with drum and bass and IDM undertones, that’s surprisingly easy to approach considering its microtonal nature. Speaking of which, the songs vary … Read more

(ghost) – Everything We Touch Turns to Dust

(ghost)‘s newest album, Everything We Touch Turns to Dust, was released on June second via n5MD. It’s my first experience with this project, and I must say I’m pleasantly surprised. The record delivers atmospheric IDM with some glitch aesthetics. At times, it sounds like qebrµs, but a million times less experimental and abstract, rather staying on the approachable and relatable side of things. Now, my knowledge of electronic music is quite limited, but Everything We Touch Turns to Dust is a record that I enjoyed a lot. At first glance minimalist, this façade covers some very interesting choices … Read more

FIXIONS – Driver

Though summer is mostly gone, our beloved hot, summer days are and will be present for quite some time, so the conditions could not be more appropriate for this unexpected

release of this electronic substistence from France.cover FIXIONS delivered an all new EP in all secrecy, designed for short, but sweet unplanned trips far away from home.

‘Summer Clouds’ picks us up, just where the wistful and enigmatic ‘Uhler’, from last year’s Euphorion left us. This EP is yet another different approach in FIXIONS’ music, fusing both old and newly adopted elements, albeit somewhat different from  what can be heard … Read more
