Best of Post-Hardcore 2021

Best of post-hardcore!

Number Five: Dead Lights – The Uncanny Valley

The new Dead Lights album is high production and high profile, The Uncanny Valley borders on metalcore with its heavy riffs and harsh vocals, but I made the choice to include it in the post-hardcore list. Whatever you choose to tag it, it remains an incredibly strong album from 2021!

Number Four: A Secret Revealed – When the Day Yearns for Light

Blackened, sludgy, noisy, and filthy, A Secret Revealed’s When the Day Yearns for Light is an amazing and disgusting album, one of the strong points of the year!

Number Three: Telomēre – Where Are We Still

Telomēre might be a lesser known name, but you ought to know more about it after you listen to their incredible 2021 release. Where Are We Still is filled with groovy riffs and melodic hooks so that there are only a few moments where you’re not banging your head (and those calmer moments are great too!)

Number Two: The World Is a Beautiful Place and I Am No Longer Afraid to Die – Illusory Walls

Dark Souls-themed bands always make bonus points with me. It’s often quite easy to tell, as with the name of the album or of the song above, and if a band I like can reference other stuff I like, so much the better! Fortunately, TWIABPAIANLATD is an incredible band and makes it really high on the list!

Number One: Hail the Sun – New Age Filth

Hail the Sun caters to all my swancore needs; their most recent, New Age Filth, sets up a golden standard for this particular style of post-hardcore. I’ve played it multiple times wishing to scream my lungs out in sync (I can’t), and so it stuck in my mind the strongest. All hail Hail the Sun!
