News: Out of Obscura; Into Alkaloid


Defining themselves as “the World’s most extreme Prog Metal band” (we‘ll be the judge of that, thank you), Alkaloid started a crowdfunding campaign for their upcoming album The Malkuth Grimoire.

The band consists of ex-Obscura’s Christian Muenzner, Linus Klausenitzer, and Hannes Großmann, joined by Morean on vocals, and Danny Tunker on other guitars. Check out Future Reflection, Mammoth‘s new progressive rock single. Now overlapping the Metal continent a bit for the climax. I have to appreciate the changing tempos and time signatures as well as timbres of the instruments throughout the song. In a too-short 5 minute, they really make us travel!

A new Tigran Hamasyan record always means new incredible and powerful music to listen and enjoy! For those of you unfamiliar to his music, imagine Animals As Leaders in a piano reduction. The crazy syncopated riffs, the sweet arpeggios and outstanding solos, the polyrhythms, it has all that!
