News: Sumerian Records trying to make a quick buck with their Band contest?

So, there’s this whole The Road To The Sphinx band contest where the best bands, chosen by Sumerian, of course, would get signed to the label. Seems like a great thing, eh? Well, Numbers actually won this contest, along with three or four other bands, and so Kyle Bishop made a small interview and decided to tell everything that happened to them. Listen to the video below, uncovering the shady Sphinx’s works. But here’s a short resume.

-Numbers won.
-They cannot announce that they’ve won unless they sign a contract.
-Said contract is non-negociable.
-Said contract says that Sumerian own … Read more

Review: Snakefeast – The Pythoness

Baltimore-based Snakefeast comes pretty much out of the left field for me. Basically, it’s a guitarless progressive sludge quintet. But none of that ELE bullshit (3 basses that do the same thing), the instruments are: a drum, a bass guitar, a cello, and a saxophone. That can be quite interesting, isn’t it? The album, in fact, consists of one huge 41-minute song, divided into eight parts about (from what I can tell) myths, particularly in medicine, but not limited to it.

It really is a well-crafted album, with great, almost … Read more

News: Entheos, or the almost-reunion of Animosity

Featuring bassist Evan Brewer, guitarist Frank Costa, and drummer Navene Koperweis, along with Systems‘ singer Chaney Crabb. There’s not much to listen to, right now, except this small guitar-tracking video on facebook. That sounds quite promising. The album comes out march 15!
