News: Om Mani reunite!

The highly-praised French band Om Mani left us crying a river (the Seine river, precisely), when they announced that they had split up due to distance issues, since their drummer Mike moved to Tahiti, while the other band members stayed on continental France. However, it is with great joy that I announce you the return of the spiritual progressive metal band! They have created a bandcamp account to our great delight, since I never was able to find their EP before that, and that their full-length Apology went missing since their official website went down not so long ago. Review: Nathan Parker Smith – Not Dark Yet

Does the name Nathan Parker Smith ring a bell to you? No? Well, that is about to change. His album Not Dark Yet certainly would have been on our best of 2014 list if we only knew about it earlier, but life, as good as it is, can sometimes be unfair. News: Upcoming awesome band alert! Vvon Dogma I

Funky, djenty, proggy, those are the three words that I can put on this project for now. There’s next to no information available on the project, apart from the bass demo video… by no less than the monstrous bassist from Unexpect but rather than play on a 9 string bass guitar, it’s on a more standard 6 string. Now that 2014 is well behind us (well, almost), it’s time to look at what 2015 promises.

First of all, Becca Stevens‘ new album, Perfect Animal is supposed to hit us in February, after being released in Japan in fall of 2014. And since Weightless was a gorgeous and soothing album, I expect no less from her new baby.

Warp Prism‘s scifi djent is truly awesome, and it’s been proven with three full-length releases already! Now, Anima is scheduled to be released late this year. It seems so distant, but we will … Read more

Review: Trivalent – A Universe

If you don’t get what’s happening on that album cover, all four of the schemas, then you won’t get the album. That doesn’t mean you wouldn’t be able to appreciate the music, just that you wouldn’t get it, it’s concept and all. The album represents in music the birth, life, and death of a universe, our universe, through the various stages of what we believe happened, and will happen in the future. Now, le me nerd out for a second here while I explain the album cover and track titles. If you want to read about the music, just skip… Read more
