Dream Unending’s Tide Turns Eternal is an amazing progressive doom album that has some of that psychedelic edge that adds a lot to its sound! A great album to start our top 5!

Number Four: Intaglio – Ⅱ

You might’ve noticed it by now, but I’m not really into the whole funeral doom thing. The closest I’m willing to approach it is exampled by Intaglio’s atmospheric doom album. The album has a true sense of beauty through desolation, and it’s one of the stronger candidates for this year!

Number Three: Big, Brave – Vital

2021 is quite a strong year for the Montreal-based post-doom trio Big, Brave. Not only did they release Vital, which is indeed a vital addition to your playlist, they did a truly remarkable collaboration with the Body, and no, it doesn’t sound like you’re imagining at all. And, for the post-doom subgenre, this is the album that caught my attention the most.

Number Two: Five the Hierophant – Through Aureate Voids

Atmospheric, psychedelic, ritualistic, Five the Hierophant is a really unique thing. Back when their previous album came out, I raved about it, and even though I have kept quite private about this new one, it’s definitely one of the strong points of 2021 as far as doom music is concerned!

Number One: Choir – Songs for a Tarnished World

That is one discovery I’m still proud of. Browsing the Bandcamp discover section, I stumbled upon this magical doom album, and what a discovery! Although you might not have heard of the band Choir, let me tell you what’s missing from your life: this album right here! It’s slow and deliberate, haunting and dreary, and there never is a moment of letdown. This right here is the superior doom album of 2021.
