Mixing metal with chiptune, or retro-sounding synth sounds, isn’t something new, many bands or artists have done it on different levels, from C-Jeff to Haken, but a newcomer that seems to do it right is always a good news! You want crazy? You get crazy! First of all I think you have to know that zelophilia is when you are sexually aroused by jealousy. The more you know… They label themselves as a “so called ‘band'”, yes, the “so called” is part of their self-description, and they say of themselves that they sound like “a childishly simplified, watered down combination of Meshuggah, The Locust, Dillinger Escape Plan, and Daughters.” Which bears some truth. Alkaloid is the union of members from Necrophagist, Obscura, Spawn of Possession, Aborted, Dark Fortress, God Dethroned, Blotted Science and Noneuclid to create, allegedly, “the most extreme prog metal” band.
