Murder Construct – Results (2012)

Go stream this shit on Metalsucks.net!

If Murder Construct were something like a bath cleaner, there would just be no bath left in its path. In fact, your house would probably have been blowed by the shockwave caused by the pure disintegration of your bath, and the neighbourhood would become a lovely crater. The rest of the town’s windows would be shattered, pedestrians would be in shock, and nearby cars would be flying in the air.

Okay, now with the real shit. Murder Construct will totally rupture your eardrums. That is, if you decide to crank the volume up to … Read more

Depth Beyond One’s – Monuments of Control (2012)

Listen to the EP while reading!

Terve!

From Oulu, Finland, comes this quintet playing their own brand of metal.

It’s discordant, polyrhythmic, and droning. The first third of the album, Monuments of Control, is a good song with nice riffs and beats all throughout.

The second song falls into a melancholic state of mind, with clean vocals and acoustic guitars. Although it would have been easy to fail at doing something good here, Depth Beyond One’s fail at failing this.

Vanisher – Unbound (2012)

Listen to this while you read!

Okay, I know this album doesn’t showcase any harsh vocals, so you can call this fake and gay and not listen to it… but you’d miss on some true jewel, not that jewels are that manly, in fact they aren’t, at all… but Vanisher’s Unbound is truly beautiful, driving, and leaves a permanent mark in your mind. Like a real beautiful piece of jewelry.

Okay, I should be burned for using such a cliché.

Unbound will make emotions flow through your mind as if you lived them. Thanks to Justin Reich at vocals for … Read more

Open Denile – Visions of the Next Dimension (2012)

After a few songs, I told myself “That is a chuggachug band”, but I have been surprised by the last songs there.

Beginning with a sci-fi intro track “Descent Into Denile”, the tracks will take you through different landscapes, but without changing place too much… kinda like when you’re in a train.

The comparison doesn’t stop there: blast bears and aggressive low-register riffs resemble the relentless sound of the train’s wheels on the tracks. The singing there might recall some of the wind howling through half-open windows, with occasional clean singing here and there, for prog’s sake. I would have … Read more

Sunn O))) Tour Dates

We here at Can this even be called Music? Defend since the very beginning the true music, which is often at the antipode of what most people today considers music. Sunn O))) makes no exception. Although many will call them noisemakers, asking “Can this even be called music, dude? Put back LMFAO and shut the fuck up!”, we find them truly amazing, and quite unique, although there are some other bands like this one.

Music, since the dawn of times, is there to convey emotions, before conveying messages, and Sunn O))) seem to have brought music to its original purpose, … Read more
