The filthiest, rankiest, dirtiest, grindiest shit out there.
Number Five: Gross Pizza – Pepperonivirus 2: Pizza Variant
“One step on the balls… Two steps on the dick” is perhaps my favourite lyrical passage of the year, and this is all thanks to this amazing and funny discovery I made earlier this year. Indulge.
Number Four: Rat Punch – It’s a Drink
Rat Punch released an awesome album this year. It’s a Drink is fast-paced and chaotic and heavy hitting; it’s all we need from a grindcore album! Disclaimer: bass player writes for the blog, so take that any way you … Read more
The Monégasque duo known as Hardcore Anal Hydrogen just released their fourth album, under the Hypercut title. I wasn’t enthralled by any of their previous output, but I might have to reconsider, given that this one tickles my fancy! The HAH duo delivers more than forty minutes of experimental death metal that lies somewhere between the breakcore of Igorrr (which I still can’t stand) and the cybergrind of Psudoku (which I adore!) And even though it’s the only place where … Read more
Only available on a very limited edition cassette tape, Crystal Larva‘s Sacrificial Blade is an intriguing phenomenon. The ten-minute, self-titled track is the only thing there is on tape, and the format makes it less than ideal for an accurate playback of the original material – the excerpt available on bandcamp is of much better quality than what you will be able to get on any tape player -, but it’s an interesting experience and composition. For the unboxing experience, I have written a post on Heavy Blog Is Heavy that should come out during the next week describing … Read more
