WHAT THE FUCKING UNHOLY FUCK???

Remember when before there was the universe, there was, like, absolute chaos?

Yeah, me neither.

But if I had to compare this to anything, it’d be that.

Hailing from France, Zvoyn is, from what I could understand, a one-man project, from some crazy bassist. The trilogy comprises three books of the “Onomatopeous Love Letters” series, and it is what it is: Onomatopeous. There doesn’t seem to be any true lyrics written to those ladies, to whom these love letters are destined, however. And I don’t know what these damsels did, … Read more

Om Mani – Apology (2009)

by Dæv Tremblay

Download this album for free and listen to it while you read!

France has got some really nice metal, and if you don’t own any album coming from this very country, you now have the chance to, because this one is a killer!

Apology may not be quite metal as an album’s title, but you should know that “Kill’Em All” is just so ’83. So fuck you. Om Mani conveys messages coming from Buddhism, from what I can understand, as the band’s name is taken from a popular Sanskrit mantra; Om mani padme hum. This might sound kinda new wave, … Read more

Moon – Caduceus Chalice (2010)

by Dæv Tremblay

Listen to this while you read!

You are walking through a dark and mysterious forest.  It’s the middle of winter, so there is snow on the ground and a chill to the air.  The forest sprawls across the base of a mountain and extends far up the side of it.  The soundtrack to your walk?  Moon’s “Caduceus Chalice”, a black metal demo that harkens back to the glory days of the genre.

The demo kicks off with the atmospheric “In Shadow” before kicking into “Forest Samhain”, a song that’ll make the listener feel like they’ve stepped back in time to … Read more

Reflux – The Illusion of Democracy (2004)

by Dæv Tremblay

Listen to this while you read!

Where today’s idols come from.

That’s what I can say just after reading the cast : Tosin Abasi, Evan Brewer, Ash Avildsen, and Vinny Vinh.

All those dudes weren’t that much known before the album, and now everyone talks about Abasi’s Animals as Leaders or T.R.A.M., Evan Brewer’s now with The Faceless and has a bass-only solo album, Ash Avildsen launched Sumerian Records,  and Vinny Vinh must be drumming in his mom’s basement.

Impressive, eh?

Reflux shows above all insane musicianship. Tosin and Evan tappings, fast riffs and constant changes within the songs make … Read more
