I was recently contacted by one of the guitarists from Chilean band Zorbas Crisol, and I was extremely impressed by what I heard. Their debut EP, Criollo, is somewhat reminiscent of a mostly instrumental version of Mr. Bungle’s debut album, but it doesn’t feel the slightest bit derivative. The song structures are highly unpredictable but never random or directionless. Brazilian meteorologist and musician Matheus Manente released his first solo album, Illusions Dimension, a musical journey that will take you to many ends of the progressive rock and metal realms!
First off, the musicianship is flawless. There is a lot of technicality involved, although it is far from being the center point of the album. Solos after solos, we can enjoy the musicality of the meteorologist’s mind. There is quite a good amount of djent influences in the rhythmic department, although it doesn’t sound djent very much.

In short, this is music written to bear absolutely no repetition and, based on the premise that beauty in music is found in the repetition of motifs – which is an absolutely subjective and arbitrary statement, the ugliest, or less enjoyable, piece of music ever written.
