Advanced Mathematics 1: Morse Code

I recently wrote an article, on Heavy Blog Is Heavy, about twelve-tone technique, dodecaphony, tone row system, whatever you want to call it (read it here). And while it was fun, I only could go so deep into theory, not to alienate the diversity of readers, each with their own proficiency in music theory. But first of all, Pace House are releasing their new album… today! Forever Existing Place is somewhere between the chiller songs of CHON and TTNG. It’s on the mellow side of math rock, which retains almost none of what makes math rock math, but there’s still some display of musicianship, and the sonic characteristics of the genres are kept. It’s really good, especially for a relaxed listening session.

Next up is Vukari‘s newest album, Divination. It comes out on August first, and it’s a blend of post-metal and… Read more

Here’s what caught my ear lately.
Yūgen‘s album, Death by Water, is simply a fantastic avant-garde metal album. I won’t go into much details as I believe Dillon will write a review on it, but go and listen to it!

Canadian experimental electronic artist Fucking ???? ?? 2007 released this very good trap-like album. It’s pretty bleak, but it’s really cool. Also, for their next album I had the chance to collaborate some bass guitar for one track! Be sure to check that. covereximperitusHailing straight from the country of Belarus, Eximperituserqethhzebibšiptugakkathšulweliarzaxułum gained attention to the public eye with their demo, in 2013, because of their absurdly lengthy and convoluted band name and song titles, but remained in our mind because their music was frankly good. They’re playing some [very] brutal death metal with a touch of tech-death and atmospheric thrown in for good measure. Moreover, behind the name lies hidden a very interesting, occult world and concept. It is, according to the band itself, an agglutinative neologism, with loans from Latin, Ancient Egyptian, Akkadian and Sumerian terms of “the Chaosatanic tradition”. I quote, … Read more
