Getting back in its original great regular flavour.
DDCoverCollage 09.44.46First up is Peter Eldridge‘s Disappearing Day. This one swings back and forth between jazz and pop, with various other influences thrown in between like folk and contemporary music. There’s even a song featuring blog-favourite Becca Stevens on voice and guitar. Overall, it’s a good and relaxed album made to please your ears, not to challenge them, and that’s a bit unfortunate. It comes out on July 22nd.

While Sun Ends will release their new album, Terminus, in August of this year. It’s a mixture of post and progressive… Read more

Zygoma‘s The Highest Court is a progressive death metal album with mathcore elements to it that came out on May 17th. It’s got the heavies, it’s got the melodies, it’s got the mathies… It’s pretty good, check it out! Kel Valhaal‘s New Introductory Lectures on the System of Transcendental Qabala will release on July 15th, but the album was briefly available on Soundcloud so I got to listen to it in its entirety. Coming from Liturgy’s mastermind, it really doesn’t sound too different, except it’s all-electronic. Actually, it’s quite close to The Ark Work if it was programmed… Read more

This electroacoustic drone pop band from Montréal, Lying Light in the Quiet, released in early May their album, Recovery. It is a very nice, ambient experience. Every track here originates from an improvisation session, and was expanded into a full song. A pretty chill album.

Binary Code‘s Moonsblod is a decent alternative progressive metal album that will most likely attract fans of Periphery, Tesseract and other bands in that sort of melodic, djent-ish metal. A Matter of Perspective is Colliding Parallels‘ debut album. Even though it’s a bit rough around the edges, it’s definitely not bad.… Read more

Here’s the latest in music weirderie.

Yvyy‘s sonnelism, landscape blends the signature 80’s down-pitched synthesizer leads of vaporwave with the traditional elements of black metal, resulting in some sort of black vapour. It’s an interesting aesthetic that they’re after here, and they’re definitely on to something. Listen to this for the very unique sound it has. Montreal prog is renowned for the prominence of its bassists, and here Heaven’s Cry are no different. Outcast is actually the band’s fourth full-length and continues the concept of “Wheels of Impermanence”, their last album. It’s a very well made album with some… Read more

Sylvaine‘s second release, Wistful, will be out tomorrow, May 13th. The album is mostly post-rock, but definitely has some more black metal moments, like in the song there. Overall, it’s pretty good so I recommend you check this out when the album is released on bandcamp! Light of a Different Sun is a technical melodic death metal album from Archaic Decapitator and will be released on June 7th. It’s a bit too standard to my taste, but it’s undeniably well-done and might please fans of the genre. Gutter Instinct will release Age of the Fanatics on May 27th.… Read more
