Very interesting and unique concept for bass guitar! What specific tool did he use to scratch and hit the strings? Together with Jaco Pastorius, Michael Manring, Steve Bailey and Tony Levin, I think Jeroen Thesseling is one of the most innovative bass players out there.
I cannot say for sure, but from what I know, I say he does this all with his fingers and hands.
He mentioned on a forum that it was played with a wirebrush. Key factor here is that ultra low sound, all nailed down with 7-string fretless. Sounds here and there like a true piano. Beautiful piece.
