Cryptic Ruse had us all turning heads with their 2014 album, “Chains of Smoke”, because of its incorporation of microtonality in different styles of metal. This time, “Wasting & Thirsting” focuses on the slower genres and styles of metal – still with microtonality -, on three long composition, the dissonances of which will make your skin crawl. It’s very interesting to have an emphasis on dissonance set with different microtonal tuning systems. Tsaars give us an incredible Foreword of their potential

This melodic djenty mathcore band from Ukraine has been playing quite frequently in my ears these past months, when they released a track off their album Foreword, Nightmares.

Now that their full EP is out, with 3 songs along with their instrumental counterparts, and an aptly named entracte. They have two guest singers, who are both incredibly good: Sam Gitiban of Novållo and Jordan Ibarra of Aristeia, as well as their own singer, who sounds really great, too!

The album is relentless, fast, heavy, technical, and melodic while retaining some dissonant chords and harmonies.

Memoirs – We Fall Apart (vocal single)

This band is so much better now that there is someone singing over it all.

The music was already pretty awesome all alone, but Mike Semesky is doing such a great job that it places the band in between all the great djent bands like Ever Forthright, Periphery, Novållo, and Limit Zero.
