Divine Realm’sTectum Argenti is a nice mix of melodic prog and djent with some impressive musicianship. While not as heavy as similar bands like Between the Buried and Me or Animals as Leaders, Divine Realm’s debut album still packs quite a punch.
Fronted by Canadian multi-instrumentalist, Leo Diensthuber, Divine Realm which started out as just a one-man band, grew into a full band before this debut full length album, which came out this week on February 23rd.
The album consists of seven meaty tracks, all between 3 and 5 minutes a piece. Not a second seems wasted though, there … Read more
I’ve been into the progressive rock band Beardfish for a while, my favorite album of theirs being their two parter “Sleeping In Traffic.” I also enjoyed their latest album 4626+Comfortzone quite a bit. So I was excited to hear what the band’s frontman Rikard Sjöblom had in store for his second solo album “The Unbendable Sleep”.
Rikard’s unique and catchy melodies paired with his distinct vocals makes for some interesting music to say the least. This album flows well but also goes unexpected places. One of which being a short interlude track “Building A Tent For Astor” which is a … Read more
Steven Wilson surprised me last year with his album Hand. Cannot. Erase. which I absolutely loved. So when I heard that his new EP 4 ½ mostly contained unreleased material from the Hand. Cannot. Erase. sessions I got pretty excited.
And it didn’t disappoint! The lineup that’s been on Steven’s solo albums since The Raven That Refused to Sing has been really solid, and they continue to nail it with this half album.
4 ½ has a nice mix of soft proggy melodies, rocking riffs, and unique solos. The glitchy sounding solo on “Vermillioncore” sounds especially cool and actually has … Read more

English Prog rock band Frost* has just re-released their debut album Milliontown on bandcamp with a few bonuses! If you’ve never checked this album out I highly suggest you grab it! Or at least listen to it first. This is a unique band that combines a high production pop sound with some awesome prog compositions. The band is currently working on their third album, and after that will be releasing a “big ol’ remixed, tweaked and remastered physical version” of Milliontown. Both of which I can’t wait for!
Today Dream Theater have announced that their new self-titled twelfth studio album will be released on September 24th!
I’m totally psyched for this album as A Dramatic Turn of Events was definitely one of the better Dream Theater albums in recent years, and with Mike Mangini being present for the entirety of the new album’s sessions, It’s likely that this one will be even better!
Now I know Dream Theater aren’t considered “unknown” or “underground” at this point, but when I discovered them, they were really only starting to gain the following they have today. They also helped introduce me … Read more
FamilyJules7x released a new guitar cover today for the Final Fantasy Prelude and Prologue themes, and it is EPIC! This is Jules’ third year of covering video game tunes on guitar, and this song really showcases his talent. The Prelude theme is one of my favorite Final Fantasy themes, and I’m really impressed with how Jules handled the arpeggios at the beginning. Sure it’s not perfect but it’s impressive nonetheless! Check it out below.

Orphaned Land have released yet another song, Brother, from their upcoming album All Is One. This time as a full fledged music video! The orchestration on this song is really impressive! So far I have not been disappointed with any of these new songs and each one just makes me want the album more!
Orphaned Land have released another Lyric Video, this one for the song Let The Truce Be Known from their upcoming album All Is One. I’m really digging the sound of this album so far, and just want to listen to the whole thing now!
