Cloudkicker – Woum

In a day and age where it’s hard to make a living through writing and or performing music it’s good to see people just doing it to express themselves.

Cloudkicker means a lot to me. I’ve always been exploring music actively and this blog is a huge reason for that. Now one of the oddest individuals I’ve seen since this journey has started has been the success and development of cloudkicker. I have even gotten the chance to catch cloudkicker live with intronaut as the backing band, there is a live album from the tour also. Now cloudkicker is … Read more

Atena – Shades of black won’t bring her back

In your fucking face. That is how this album will feel and that is great. Catchy grooves that are met with interesting layers and song structure bring life to this album. It just keeps you interesting in the content while giving you dynamic range to rest your ears from the typical squashed modern sound many bands seem to enjoy.

Atena seems like the kind of band that would be excellent to see live. Shouting, singing, grooves for days just make you want to shout along with the band and push everyone around you.

The production on it is a great … Read more

Peculate – Hotline Bling

Peculate has decided to join in on the fun that many others such as Sufjan Stevens have in covering the controversial “Hotline Bling”. Peculate does not do a direct cover like many of the others have but a creative jazz-metal arrangement. The outro of the song in itself is a piece within it self.

As usual you can “name your price” for the song and other bits on his bandcamp page by using the link above the … Read more

New Deafheaven Single – “Brought to the Water”

Deafheaven is back! Been curious on what direction the band would go after the response to “S U N B A T H E R”. It was after all one of the most highly rated albums across the public media. It’s actually number one on albumoftheyear.org from adding up a ton of top album of the year lists from major media sites.

But it seems they are hitting us hard with this new single. Enjoy guys!

You can preorder the album on bandcamp:

Vod as some of you readers may know is a project run by my other Co-Admin of the blog, “Dave Tremblay”. His work spans across many genres from XYAX, Omega Cluster, to a new microtonal Project called “Melopoeia“.

He has released a new album under his project “Vod”:

“ᑑᕐᖓᐃᑦ (Tuurngait, meaning ghost) is an album about winter, the snow, the night, isolation, and the cold. Riffs being built, atmospheres rising and then falling back, polyrhythms and off-time signatures. All played on bass guitar, with drums and vocals. Loads of bass and sub-bass frequencies, and lot of … Read more
