I posted about these guys a while back – just before they announced a huge summer tour and new album! Here’s a song from the new album, and it kicks some serious ass! I’m stoked to see these guys again, they put on a great live show.
With an excellent mixture of heavy, melodic, and atmospheric sounds, Cyclamen continues to improve and progress from the ideas present on their 2012 EP, “Memories, Voices”. It’s a pretty awesome song, and it makes me excited for the new album, “Ashura”, set to drop this October.
Cynthesis is a progressive metal outfit from California formed out of 3 of the original members of Zero Hour. They are preparing to release their sophomore album soon, and this is the first track to be officially released from it.
I saw these guys with Blind Guardian back in 2010, and was blown away. I noticed immediately upon them taking the stage that the vocalist was formerly of White Wizzard (who are more a throwback to Maiden than say, Mid-90s Blind Guardian), and was completely floored by the awesome show they put on.
The video is only a few weeks old, and I have to say I’m digging the new stuff, too. Check these guys out!

I first encountered these guys at a bar in Savannah at the first show I went to after I turned 21 back in July of 2009. Since then, I’ve seen them a time or two more, and they’ve only gotten better with age. The music’s pretty strong all around, and man, they put on a fun live show!
Kingcrow is an Italian progress metal outfit who is currently on tour in the US with the legendary Pain of Salvation. I saw them live the other night, and was pretty well blown away by their music and performance. I hope you give them a listen and a like on Facebook, as it’s some very good stuff.

Cyclamen is a Japanese band that has a definitive Devin Townsend Atmosphere-and-Chug wall of sound going on that I’m really digging. Their EP, Memories, Voices is available on iTunes for Download, and the whole thing is pretty damned solid.
Gallowbraid is a metal band from Salt Lake City, Utah who delivers an excellent mix of atmosphere, power, and melody, all wrapped up in long-form progressive song structures. They currently are working to sell vinyls of their 2010 album, Ashen Eidolon. I’d like to see them do another record at some point, so let’s show some support!

The sort of mad polka/demonic circus music brings back memories of Arcturus. This UK based metal outfit impresses with a bleak, yet melodic and incredibly atmospheric attack. Coupled with a strange cartoon silhouette music video, it certainly makes for an interesting experience.
A few friends of mine (completely unrelated to one another, at that) clued me in to these guys a few months ago. They do a pretty excellent take on the Finnish style with some progressive elements mixed in here and there. I haven’t had a chance to grab their album yet, myself, but I got a chance to listen to it on a stream that they put up temporarily when they released it a few months back, and I must say that I’m thoroughly impressed.
